"Each one of us has a story to tell and each one of us has an adventure to live" - Ryza

A Legacy that is my Mom

A woman of character and strength...

A woman whose words touched many...

A woman with integrity and courage...

A woman many knew...

A woman many respect...

But to me...

She was the one I call...

Mom

A few would never realize how much someone would mean to them when they are still around; only when they leave this life that it would sink in. Yet, in death we don't celebrate what could have been and what words we could have said. In death, we celebrate the life and legacy the person had over this world.

My mother was not the world's greatest mom. She had her flaws and she had her share of things she could have done differently. Yet, even as a child, I always looked up to her. Her strength as a woman is incredible. To be the bred winner of the family, yet still have the time to share a cup of tea and coffee with her husband is amazing. She was always the rock that held the family together. However, what is so amazing about her legacy were the lives she have touched.

Her charisma, leadership, and aura as a woman of strength and character transcends through the people that surround her.

My mother always said to me, leaders are not born but made, yet I see in you the kind of leaders we should have in this earth. To serve with a heart that gives, and to be a beacon of what should be a utopian society.

Idealism
Hope
Heart...

Those qualities each one of us should possess to lead people, and qualities we need to be what we can be. To not be scared to speak your mind, and to have no fear in living a life of no impossibilities.

People always ask me where I get this passion in life and this courage to seize opportunities; and I always believed in my heart it was my mother who gave me that spark. It was her words to an 11 year old girl that allowed me to pursue life with a regard to never step on anyone as you climb the ladder of success.

My mother's legacy as a woman of incredible strength, resiliency and character lives on, and as we say farewell to her in this life I am sure that her memory will live on.

She has achieved few people have in this life...

She achieved immortality...

People will always remember a Ma'am Racks in their lives. A woman who have touched so many hearts and inspired so many of the youth leaders of today.

And as her daughter, I will strive to be what she have always sees in me.

To my hero, and my rock...

My mother..

Thank you

Independent from Italy and all of Europe, the Vatican is the only city that is governed by the highest ruling power in the Catholic religion... the pope. A seat of power that once held by Saint Peter whose ashes lie rest within the basilica. It is indeed an amazing experience to thread upon the steps towards the tomb of Saint Peter. One can only withhold tears as you feel an immense aura of humility sweep away from under your feet. As a Catholic and a devotee, to just be inside the basilica is one of the moments you would cherish for a lifetime. Yet, you  need not be a catholic to appreciate the beauty of the architecture and the art inside. One piece of sculpture that lies inside is the Pieta by Michelangelo.

This symbol of the Virgin Mother's sorrow as she hold her son's lifeless body in her arms gravitates the loss any mother would have when their child is taken away from this life.

The grief
The pain
The undying love of a mother...

These emotions evoke a level of sadness not many can comprehend. Let your hearts succumb to the sorrow of this art. Let your hearts feel the sacrifice of a mother, and let your hearts feel the love that is unconditional and true.

Just Around The Riverbend

Pocahontas

"What I love most about rivers is:
You can't step in the same river twice
The water's always changing, always flowing
But people, I guess, can't live like that
We all must pay a price"

In life we find ourselves in crossroads, and our hearts troubled to find the right path. Our fears are overwhelming as we find what is out there. For if we choose one path, we might regret not choosing the other. Confusions cloud our minds and judgments in our quest for happiness. We realize that the barriers to make the right choices are our own selves and our fears.

"Should I choose the smoothest course
Steady as the beating drum?
Should I marry Kocoum?
Is all my dreaming at an end?
Or do you still wait for me, Dream Giver
Just around the riverbend?"

Would you rather choose a path that's stable and never changing? Or a path that you don't know what to expect yet full of excitement. The problem with these choices is that the fear that you may pay the price of regrets. How can anyone overcome looking at yourself in the mirror and watching a life you could have chosen.

Dilemmas we encounter growing up that never presented itself when we were young. Who would have ever thought watching Pocahontas when we were a kid actually relates to our lives when we are at our mid 20s. However, like the movie, it's not the choice that dictate our lives but the steps we make towards it. It might not matter in the end whatever path we take; we just have to always remember that its in living them and experiencing each moment that matters.

Life is not made up of fears but moments...

Disneyland California Adventure

Be a kid
   Be an adult
        Be yourself

This would be my second time in Disneyland California Adventure and there hasn't been a boring been-there-done-that dejavu feeling. So I made a list of top things you must visit and experience when you are here
.

1. Aladdin: The Musical Experience

- Photo Owned -

This musical extravaganza is not quite the same as its Broadway counterpart in terms of musical scoring; however, it stands on its own. The songs you've known from the movie comes to life as they transport you back to Agraba. But the highlight of the show is the comedic timing of the Genie; not quite the same as Robin Williams, but the actor's comedy is current and very entertaining. One would just be giggling and laughing all throughout the show. Also, fall in love all over again with Aladdin and Jasmine as they sing, " A Whole New World" and be amazed of the magic carpet ride. The blending of their voices is simply divine and will give you goosebumps.

The sets, the dances, the music is one you would not want to miss in your visit.

2. Disney Animation Academy

Get in touch with your inner animator and sit with a masterclass as you draw some of your most lovable Disney characters. The glee you feel when you manage to complete it is an experience like no other. It is also a nice souvenir which you can frame... I sure did photo frame mine.

3. California Screamin and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

For the adrenalin junkies out there, Disneyland California Adventure has two rides that will surely satisfy your " I am SUPERMAN " or " I am a flying Jack (Titanic)" feeling.

California Screamin' is one of the park's original rides, and is the only roller coaster at the Disneyland Resort to feature an inversion. Its top speed of 55 miles per hour (89 km/h) makes it the fastest ride at the Disneyland Resort and one of the fastest rides at any Disney theme park.( Credits : Wikipedia )

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

This ride manages to combine your fear of tight spaces, fear of dark, fear of Casper non-friendly ghosts and definitely your fear of heights.

Instead of the autonomous vehicle found in the original incarnation, the scaled down version uses only a single shaft for each car. As the elevator doors close, the lights of the service elevator flicker out. The re-designed, multi-level boarding ride system for the Californian version of the tower requires that one elevator loads while another is in the drop shaft progressing through the ride cycle. As such, the first movement guests experience is horizontal, as the elevator itself is pulled back from the Rod Serling's voice is heard as the elevator is pulled back from the door ( Credits : Wikipedia )

These are just the top three things that you would not want to miss out, however, Disneyland California Adventure offers more rides and activities for you and your family. I would suggest to seize the day and spend one day in this park. Exciting thrills and adventures awaits you here; and I am sure that the memory you will make will be with you for a lifetime.

Freedom

Berlin Wall

( German : Berliner Mauer )

The Berlin Wall (German: Berliner Mauer) was a barrier that existed between 1961 and 1990, constructed by the German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) starting on 13 August 1961. Between 1961 and 1989, the wall prevented almost all such emigration.During this period, around 5,000 people attempted to escape over the wall, with an estimated death toll of over 100 in and around Berlin, although that claim is disputed (Credits: Wikipedia)

- Photo Owned -
The Berlin Wall is located in Bernauer Straße 111, 13355 Berlin, Germany. The wall that used to be just cement covered bricks has been changed to show graffiti arts with powerful statements from artists showing freedom and change.

Wars from non acceptance led to the creation of these brick stones reflecting segregation and anarchy. Yet today, in this day and age this wall stands more than ever a symbol of the eradication of diversity.

Rarely does it cross our minds how privileged we are to be able to live without having the restraints our forefathers had in the time of the Nazi regime; or even in time for us Asians, the Japanese empire rule in world war II. Some hardly appreciate the sacrifices our ancestors made for this privilege to become a right.

Our right of speech
Out right to be free
Our right to live

The Berlin wall would be a emotional sight just like the concentration camps. This is one of those places where you would be able to realize how fortunate we are to be born in this age. How lucky we are to be able to write what is in our minds, to speak what is in our hearts, and to do what our dreams have envisioned for us.

These are powerful emotions you would not want to miss when you visit the Berlin wall. A symbol of both suppression

..... and freedom.

Paradise

El Nido Palawan

Nestled in one of the islands of the Philippines, El Nido Palawan boast mother nature's best creation.
A plane ride from either Manila or Cebu, this pocket of nature's splendor is about 238 kilometres (148 mi) northeast of Puerto Princesa, Palawan’s capital. One would need to hire a van in advance from the airport to reach this place.

A word of caution to those who suffer from motion sickness is to make sure to drink meclizine (Bonamine) or you'll end up like me having side stops to deposit some fertilizers a.k.a your morning breakfast.

But the trip which is roughly 6 hours is all worth it, especially when you arrive and witness a breathtaking sunset that you wouldn't be able to see anywhere else.

- Photo Owned -
El Nido is spectacular in itself, but what made this trip special was when I shared a memory with a friend. I went here with one of the closest people in my life who have been with me through my ups and downs; and who knows me inside out. This is one of those moments that will be forever embedded in my heart. Friends come and go but when you have those people who never let go and you know will be with you through hell and back, that ends a friendship and starts a family. A sister from another mother and a loyal partner in crime that you will only get to have once in your lifetime.

Treasure your friends...
         Treasure your family....

So when you visit this place, share it with people who are dear to you. Enjoy a one of a kind island hopping experience at one of the best destination Philippines has to offer.

Mr. Perfect

Sometimes in life we dream of meeting Mr. Perfect. He’s that one guy in our lives who sweeps us off our feet. His smile makes everything disappear, and anything he says just managed to capture our hearts. We have to be honest with ourselves that we’ve always dream of marrying him. Ever since we’re little girls he always was the man in our fantasy.

Our Prince Charming, our Jason Fielding, our Brad Pitt.

So what happens when this dream guy steps into our lives?
What happens if one day, he shows up?
What will you do if one fateful day, he would decide to love you?
Wouldn't you say that you’re dreams came true?

However meeting the perfect guy and having him say those magic words could seem like a dream, and yes in the dream it would be so magical. Yet, when the time came when the clock strikes 12 or when you decide to wake up from your sleep; you would soon realize that Mr. Perfect is not Mr. Right.

He isn’t the right guy who would hold your hand when things go wrong, or would be the one who would stand by your side when you have to fight your own demons.
Mr. Right might not know the words to say to sweep you off your feet and he might not even know the words to say to make you have dopey eyes. Even when his romance is a scale of 2 out of 10, remember that he is that one person that will grow old with you. He would be that one person who will still say you’re beautiful as the wrinkles of time become evident. He is that one guy that would do almost everything and anything to make you live happily ever after.

Yes, Mr. Perfect may not always be the guy for you; and it is really okay…

‘Coz the man you’re with now
The one seated on the couch drinking a beer and waving at you,
Even with all his imperfections is the one…

Rescued or Caged? : Tiger Temple Thailand

- Photo Owned -
Probably, the most controversial temple in all of Southeast Asia is the Tiger Temple or the Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua located in the Saiyok district of Thailand’s Kanchanaburi province.

There have been many reports that the tigers living in the monastery are not rescued but caged as a major tourist attraction. Instead of being released to the wild, these tigers have been drugged and sedated as well as being hit from time to time. Reports of abuse and maltreatment have been circulating in the internet.
In August 2013, blogger and animal rights activist Turner Barr went "undercover" at Tiger Temple as a volunteer for 30 days. He chronicled his time there on a YouTube video that shows what he considered to be molestation, maltreatment and malnutrition of the tigers. He summarized his findings on his blog, Around the World in 80 Jobs, and distilled these down to 7 essential reasons to think twice before visiting Tiger Temple. ( Credits : Wikipedia )

These are heavy allegations on a monastery whose original intention was to be a sanctuary for abandoned tigers since 1999.

We all have mixed feelings when it comes to the conservation of animals. Just like our reservations when it comes to animals being caged in zoos than to be free in the wild.

However, before any conclusions will be made, has one seen the devastation man has brought upon the tiger's homes?  If these gentle giants are to go out and be free, will they even survive in the world of industrialization? In a world where people are more worried on WiFi hot spots, new gadgets or new cars than planting trees for our own oxygen consumption.

Yes, the tiger temple is really controversial. However, aren't all zoos whose caging animals are?

I have visited the temple last May 2013. I even have a photo with the tigers. Don't get me wrong, fear is forever present; yet, the excitement and amazement overpowers any fears. I even had the opportunity to bottle feed baby cubs. An unbelievable memory that you would cherish for years to come. This is what one would want to experience when they visit the place. An opportunity to be up close and be able touch these giants that we only get to see on National Geographic. Then once we've experience that, we can realize that aside from the humans that roam around the earth; we share it with these animals. We share the planet with the most wonderful of creatures; and maybe just maybe that realization becomes us and we soon create a ripple of change. More than poverty, the conservation of our planet is what's at stake.

I saw no maltreatment or any form of abuse in the temple; but I did see the care of the volunteers have towards these animals. I saw the monks and how they treat the tigers like family.

Polarities from two different perspective regarding the temple will always be there. You just have to see it for yourself to draw up your own conclusion.

Mont-Saint-Michel, France

Mont-Saint Michel Abbey, France

Mont-Saint-Michel

Perched on a rocky islet in the midst of vast sandbanks exposed to powerful tides between Normandy and Brittany stand the 'Wonder of the West', a Gothic-style Benedictine abbey dedicated to the archangel St Michael, and the village that grew up in the shadow of its great walls. Built between the 11th and 16th centuries, the abbey is a technical and artistic tour de force, having had to adapt to the problems posed by this unique natural site.

I must say that pictures does not grant justice to how breath taking this place is. Towering over the sea stands the abbey of Mont Saint-Michel. It is truly spectacular to see the medieval structure surrounded by water. Inside the abbey are winding steps with cobbled stones dating 460 AD. Today, the abbey has been modernized to accommodate tourist from all over the world. However, walking through the rubles and feeling the ocean breeze, you can just immerse yourself to the times where knights used this fortress as a tower for bloodshed and wars.

But what makes the trip to the abbey the most memorable was experiencing for the first time in my life the kindness of people in the most unexpected places.

Sharing my story would sound unreal and one would even say that it only happens in movies.

With our huge luggage and carry-on bags, three stooges withstand the sleepless nights to be able to reach Mont Saint-Michel. It is the one place we would not dare missing out while we're in Europe. Combating the cold, lack of sleep and excitement we were able to reach the abbey; and yes, the place surpass our expectations. However, we were so exhausted that when we step out of the van carrying us from the abbey to the town, where our bags were, we didn't notice the time. The last bus departed just five minutes from the time we arrived! Panic rushed through our bodies because if we missed the bus, then we will surely miss our train. Our funds were dwindling and we cannot afford to buy another ticket nor stay in the town.Three minds were racing for ideas, and three hearts were trying to find a level of calmness that simply wasn't there. I was already ready to drop dead naked and wish for a miracle to all the saints I know. Then right on cue, my friend talked to a lady inside the hotel and she was able to also ask help from someone. The man offered to drive us to the train station; and a huge sigh of relief washed all over my body. I felt like crying at the backseat of the car as I cannot contain the feeling of an overwhelming gratitude. He even went above and beyond to make sure that we are on the right train.

This person's name is Jean-Yves Vetele....president of the Hotel that we asked help from. Of all the people we happen to meet, a man in a suit showed us kindness; and he just happens to be the person who runs the hotels in the area!

I can definitively say miracles and angels exist; and to top it all of, this incident happened in the church where my favorite archangel is.

Belgian Chocolate

Handmade Chocolate

Chocolate
An aphrodisiac that makes all your worries fade away.

I’ve always been a chocoholic and even when I was kid, whenever I see chocolate, my eyes go wide and my mouth would drool. Now that I'm an adult, chocolate has become my best friend on those days when I feel like my world is collapsing. It is also my companion to get me through the insurmountable tasks I have during the day. Chocolate is and will always be our comfort food regardless of what age we are in; what language we speak or even the color of our skin.

During my travels, I was lucky enough to be able to experience hand made Belgian chocolate. So if you're having a European tour, I would suggest not to miss out on this authentic treat.

The rich texture of cocoa in your mouth will make all sense and logic leave your inner being. It is sinfully delicious. However, unlike any other chocolate, Belgian chocolate have a distinct taste that lingers and creates a memory imprint in your brain. What makes it so special is how rich and velvety smooth it truly is. That aroma and taste remains even after you've consumed one single bar. This develops into an insatiable craving for more. It doesn't matter if you get dark chocolate, milk chocolate or even their white chocolate; the sensation is the same.

You would want to devour.
To indulge
To be sinful

Yet, like all things in life, although we want more than what we have, we got to admit that there’s a time to simply enjoy what we just had.

To stop wanting and start appreciating.

Finding the contentment that we get to experience things, and have things that not all people get to enjoy is what I think is most important. So unlike the chubby cheek kid in the Willy Wonka movie, who had the greed of wanting to eat all the chocolate in the factory; I just want to be like Charlie and appreciate a single bar

... and the beauty of being able to experience it.

"Let Me Be The One"

Artist: Jimmy Bondoc

Somebody told me you were leavin
I didn’t know
Somebody told me you’re unhappy
But it doesn’t show
Somebody told me that you don’t want me no more

So you’re walkin’ out the door
Nobody told me you’ve been cryin’
Every night
Nobody told me you’d been dyin’

But didn’t want to fight
Nobody told me that you fell out of love from me
So I’m settin’ you free

Let me be the one to break it up
So you won’t have to make excuses
We don’t need to find a set up where
Someone wins and someone loses

We just have to say our love was true
But has now become a lie
So I’m tellin’ you I love you one last time
And goodbye

Somebody told me you still loved me
Don’t know why
Nobody told me that you only
Needed time to fly

Somebody told me that you want to come back when
Our love is real again
Just turn around and walk away
You don’t have to live like this

But if you love me still then stay
Don’t keep me waiting for that final kiss
We can work together through this test
Or we can work through it apart
I just need to get this off my chest
That you will always have my heart

Sometimes in every relationship, we come to a point that goodbyes are the best thing we can do for the one we love. It has become suffocating that the very air you breathe becomes the air that lets your heart die slowly. Funny thing is, it’s not even your heart that's dying but theirs. Letting go of someone will be the hardest thing anyone can do; and especially will be the most difficult if you’re the first person to walk out the door. However, you can’t say that the love you have for each other is lost.

It will always be there.

The only problem is, the love that once was changed to a love unknown. To a point that words of “I love you” becomes words of “goodbye”.

So if you have too…

Be the one to tell her… or be the one…

to fight for her

A Glimpse into her smile

If you happen to stumble across Paris, you would be a fool if you don't visit her. By her, I would mean Leonardo da Vinci's famous portrait of a woman...

 " The Mona Lisa"

Mona Lisa's smile has repeatedly been a subject of many—greatly varying—interpretations. Some have described the smile as both innocent and inviting. Many researchers have tried to explain why the smile is seen so differently by people. The explanations range from scientific theories about human vision to curious supposition about Mona Lisa's identity and feelings.  ( credits: Wikipedia )

The intrigue behind those smile has baffled millions of people. Every time you look at her, it's as if a secret is being hidden. A curiosity springs deep within that just captivates and makes you stand still.  That smile mysteriously wants you to see a glimpse of her world... her life... her secret..

I would say, she is the perfect muse to invite you to explore the Louvre. I was in awe just to see the architectural design of the building. With the modernistic approach of having a glass triangle in a middle of a traditional Renaissance design palace; the Louvre would make your heart just stand in amazement.

In your quest to learn and enjoy your glimpses of a world known in the past; I would definitely suggest to spend and rent an audio guide. A moment to yourself to simply enjoy and learn is one thing that you would cherish for the rest of your life. For my fellow artist and writers, while inside, this is your time to simply immerse yourself in the creativity of our forefathers.

Let each glimpse
Each mystery
Each feeling

Be our own

As we step behind Mona Lisa's Smile...

Soul Mates

"Do you believe in soulmates?"

That is always the question that sits back at the far corners of our hearts. Our minds try to deny the notion of their existence, but can't explain the feeling of dejavu.
That very moment where your eyes meet and you know that you have known that man your entire life. That one person God placed in this earth to be your Adam and you're his Eve.

Yet, in this day and age where the mind overrules the heart; people will always judge you to be insane. A person living in a fairy tale bubble that needs to open her eyes to reality. They might even say you're naive, and illogical.

Yes..
Illogical.
But Tell Me.....

Can one's heart be logical?

We cannot just settle simply because we fear of finding the one person that will give us true happiness. Happiness that would need us to trust our heart's desires. I know we have been hurt too much that we simply fear. Yet, a true testament of our soul mate's love is how they will be there for that person when they are at their worst.

In times where the heart blackens and suffers.

Depression can take a toll on a person, it's an evil venom that slowly eats the essence and reason for living. But our soul mates, our partners, our true loves will be there no matter what.

To hold our hand when we are crippled with fear
To breathe air into us when we fail to inhale no more
To be our shield when life begins to be too much

Yes, I do believe in soul mates.. in true love.. in that one person who wouldn't let go. The one man who will be forever yours from this day and until the end of days.

Your one true love exist

It's only up to you to be brave enough

To fall in love
To be in love
To trust in your destinies entwined

Feeling

"Numb"

- inspired by the tracked La La La cover by Jasmine Thompson -

"I'm covering my ears like a kid"
Photo Owned

I closed the door behind me.
I could hear his screams, the plates breaking, and the baby crying.
His voice like amplified sounds of hate.
With everything happening, I can’t even bring myself to cry.

I am stunned.
I am numbed.
I am frozen.

Covering my ears to block his words, yet I can still hear him. I can still feel the daggers pierced through my heart no matter how much I try to shield it.

“I hate you, you good for nothing bitch! I own you! You worthless piece of shit! Stupid whore”

From behind the door his rage silence all other noise. The sad part about it is I don’t remember the reason of the fight, only the pain it has caused.

Then ... the sound of the door being slammed.

I am alone.

I walked to the bed to get my packed suitcase underneath it. It’s been months since I have this ready. I had meant to leave the first time his hand marked my cheek.
I had meant to but I am still here. I don’t know why I stay; some would say because I love him so much. However, love without expectations, is it really worth it?
I caught myself staring at my suitcase and our wedding picture. I have been staring at it not doing anything. I am so pathetic I can’t even bring myself to stand up, get a cab and get out.

Why?

I am just holding on I guess.
Holding on to a promise of tomorrow.
I keep telling myself that it will get better, that when the sun will shine and the darkness gone, he will be the man I married.
The man who loves me unconditionally and swore to never hurt me.
If there is anything that I am fighting for… it is that hope.

Yet, in this very moment, I can just feel the coldness of my heart.
His venom reaching through its core and slowly killing me.
I am numbing out all the pain and I want to scream and cry but all I can do is shut down.

 I need to get out.
 I have to get out.
I must get out.

Before I lose ...... me.

Eat Pray and Just Eat : Macau

Macau

" Food: Culture in a bowl "

When we think of Macau cuisine, we automatically think of egg tarts and almond cookies. Yet, Macau is so much more. Ever wondered that when you step into the city center, you would automatically see Spanish language like Senado or Banco? Macau became a colony of the Portugeuse empire in 1557, much like the eyes are windows to a person's soul; food are windows to a country's history and culture.

Portugeuse Sauce

Molho português (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈmoʎu puɾtuˈɣeʃ], Portuguese sauce) in Macanese cuisine, refers to a sauce made of curry powder andcoconut milk, that is milder and richer than the usual curry. (Credits: Wikipedia)

A must try when you visit Macau is the famous Macanese curry sauce. Nothing beats fish balls, fishcakes, lobster and all other bizarre food like pig's liver, cabbage, cheese infused balls you wouldn't think goes with CURRY. I know it sounds weird, but the taste is incomparable.

In a steaming pot of spiced infused water, the produce gets cooked to perfection. After that, for just $40 that you can't finish on your own; you get a bowl of fishballs, squid, and all things you picked out combined with that fresh macanese curry sauce. This combination is like fireworks of flavor, and it simply indulges you how the local's eat.

Travelling is more than just site seeing. The best part of it all, is experiencing the culture. What better way than a taste of what is distinct about the country.

So next time you visit Macau, try one of the local cuisine which is the fish balls and etc with macanese curry

Oh and one more thing... don't be shy to simply

Experience
